Kevin Pho – But the current system of medical education

But the current system of medical education pushes doctors, interns and students to the limits of their physical, emotional and mental abilities and leaves little room for anything but work. But health is an ambiguous term, not just “absence of illness”. “As the medical world specializes, doctors become the infamous Kevin Fo and is the leading online platform where doctors, senior students, nurses, medical students, and patients share their visions and stories. We lack evidence that exercise, sleep and healthy eating have beneficial effects on cognitive function, learning and performance, which doctors must optimize. I could not understand this behavior until I came to a critical revelation: doctors do not care about health, doctors care about disease. After another lecture to patients about what drugs to take, we have enough bandwidth for something else: to make people quit smoking, stop fumigating or take other heavy drugs. Apart from “healthy” eating, exercise and cancer prevention, we are not taught much. But here, outside the clinic, when they take off their white coat, they actively oppose a generally healthy habit and try to take care of their health. These few things they teach us are often ignored in the midst of mountains of disease, Latin phrases, unspeakable drug names, confusing drug mechanisms, and other key words that we must learn by heart. The medical system takes more care of the medicines it can prescribe, the operations it can perform, and other things it can charge for. Kevin Fo, a medical doctor, tells the story of many people who intersect with our health care system but who we rarely hear about. On the other hand, being healthy is much more abstract, and it is difficult for us to think abstractly. I did the same thing, but it is time to focus more on our health, not just on the health of our patients.
